Mohare Danda Trek is a relatively new trekking trail in operation in the Annapurna region of Nepal. The route, from the trailhead to the finish, measures 30 kilometers. With a view to promoting eco-tourism, the trek has been designed to be completed in 5 days, requiring an average of around 5 hours of walking each day. Note that the trail still remains rather off-the-beaten and is quiet even during the peak seasons.
The highest elevation on the trek is Mohare Danda at an altitude of 3,300 meters from the sea level. This vantage point is ideally placed for spectacular views of the Himalayas of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayan ranges. Worth noting are the sunrise and sunset views. The trailhead for Mohare Danda Trek is Galeshwor ( m), a small town to the southwest of Pokhara, the city of lakes. It takes about 5 hours to drive from Pokhara to reach this starting point.
The trail also offers satisfying experiences. The villages en route come with a few houses and are distant from most luxuries many are used to in these modern times. On the slopes of high hills, the common practice is terraced farming. Orange and plum trees, as well as bamboo, fill these farmlands besides regular crops such as corn. Many visitors also find the domesticated goats, buffalos, and those often friendly dogs indulging. In addition, portions of the trail pass through beautiful forests that remain memorable to most.
Like most trekking routes in Nepal, Mohore Danda Trek also comes with its fair share of ups and downs. Although the uphills and the downhills feel to the sharper side to the novice, Mohare Danda Trek, on the whole, comes as a satisfying experience – ‘a trek worthwhile’ as many claim the experience to be. Mohare Danda Trek is suitable for all ages, beginner trekkers, and retired trekkers.
